Terms and Conditions

1.1 These terms and conditions ("Terms") govern the use of Arifpay Financial Technologies SC's digital payment solutions, including ArifPOS and ArifGateway ("Services").
1.2 By accessing or using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms, you may not use the Services.
- Services Provided
2.1 Arifpay Financial Technologies SC offers innovative, secure, and easy-to-implement digital payment solutions for MSME merchants, banks, and customers, working through commercial partners.
2.2 Arifpay Financial Technologies SC is licensed by the National Bank of Ethiopia and provides the following services:
2.2.1 Utility Bill Payments:
Users can conveniently pay their utility bills, including electricity, water, and telecommunications bills, through the Arifpay platform. This eliminates the need to visit multiple service providers and saves time. Users are responsible for providing accurate and up-to-date bill information for successful payment processing.
2.2.2 Airtime Top-Up:
Users can recharge their mobile airtime for all major telecom operators in Ethiopia through Arifpay. Instant top-up ensures that users stay connected at all times. Users are responsible for providing accurate mobile phone numbers and selecting the correct operator for successful airtime top-up.
2.2.3 eCommerce Payments:
Arifpay provides a secure and reliable payment gateway for eCommerce businesses in Ethiopia. It enables online merchants to accept payments from customers using various payment methods, enhancing the convenience and trustworthiness of online shopping. Arifpay is not responsible for the quality, delivery, or warranty of products or services purchased through eCommerce merchants.
2.2.4 School Fee Processing:
Arifpay simplifies the process of paying school fees for students and parents. Parents can easily make fee payments to educational institutions through the Arifpay platform, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free experience. Arifpay is not responsible for any disputes or issues arising between parents and educational institutions regarding fee payments.
2.3 Payments issues
2.3.1. You should personally set up the login password and payment password for your Arifpay account and keep them properly. Your Arifpay account will be linked to the payment account configured by the Company and cannot be used alone for payment.
2.3.2 You should update your identity information and related materials in a timely manner. If you do not update in time and, consequently, the Service becomes unavailable or your Arifpay account is fraudulently used by others, you should be responsible accordingly.
2.3.3. When any of the following situations occurs, you should promptly contact the Company’s contact center: 9395
188.8.131.52. if you have accidentally lost or leaked the information, have lost your cellphone or other mobile devices or your SIM card; Third parties have fraudulently used or stolen your identity information or account information; or if Any other use of your Arifpay account, the service or your bank account without your legal authorization has occurred, you shall call our Contact Center 9395 promptly. If you fail to notify the Company in a timely manner, you shall be liable for any losses incurred thereby, unless the Company has been acting intentionally or with gross negligence.
2.3.4 The Company has the right to adjust the quantities, types, limits and functions of your payment accounts in accordance with the requirements of the National Bank of Ethiopia, industry specifications, regulatory policies and other requirements.
2.3.5 Smartphone Payments:
Arifpay enables users to make payments directly from their smartphones. Users can link their bank accounts or mobile wallets through the Arifpay mobile app, facilitating secure and convenient transactions at various merchant locations. Users are responsible for ensuring the security of their login credentials and for any transactions made using their Arifpay account.
2.3.6 POS Payments:
Arifpay provides Point of Sale (POS) devices to businesses, allowing them to accept card payments from customers. The POS devices are equipped with secure card readers, offering a seamless payment experience. Customers can pay using debit or credit cards, expanding payment options for businesses. Arifpay is not responsible for any disputes or issues arising between merchants and customers regarding POS transactions.
2.3.7 QR Payment Terminals:
Arifpay offers QR payment terminals, enabling customers to make payments by scanning Quick Response (QR) codes. Merchants generate unique QR codes representing the payment amount, and customers can initiate payments by scanning these codes using their smartphones. This method is quick, secure, and eliminates the need for physical cards or cash. Arifpay is not responsible for any disputes or issues arising between merchants and customers regarding QR code payments.
2.4 Arifpay Financial Technologies SC may introduce additional services or make changes to existing services in the future, subject to regulatory approvals.
- User Authorization
3.1 In order to meet the requirements of the National Bank of Ethiopia and other pertinent regulations, users authorize Arifpay Financial Technologies SC to inquire and verify their identity information and account details with state agencies, financial institutions, enterprises, and institutions.
3.2 Arifpay Financial Technologies SC reserves the right to revise the content of this agreement according to business operational adjustments. Any revisions will be published in advance on the company's website or the Arifpay Client app. Users are responsible for staying informed about the latest terms and conditions released by Arifpay Financial Technologies SC.
- Protection of Intellectual Property Rights
4.1 Arifpay Financial Technologies SC retains all intellectual property rights related to the Services, including but not limited to software, logos, trademarks, and content. Users may not use, reproduce, modify, distribute, or display any of Arifpay's intellectual property without prior written consent.
- Suspense, Interruption, or Termination of the Service
5.1 Arifpay Financial Technologies SC reserves the right to suspend, interrupt, or terminate the Services temporarily or permanently, without prior notice, for various reasons including but not limited to:
5.1.1 Maintenance, upgrades, or repairs of the system.
5.1.2 Security concerns or suspected unauthorized access.
5.1.3 Non-compliance with these Terms or violation of applicable laws or regulations.
5.1.4 Force majeure events beyond the control of Arifpay Financial Technologies SC.
5.2 Arifpay Financial Technologies SC shall not be liable for any losses, damages, or inconvenience arising from the suspension, interruption, or termination of the Services.
- Limitation of Liability
6.1 Arifpay Financial Technologies SC shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use the Services, including but not limited to any loss of profits, data, or business opportunities.
6.2 Arifpay Financial Technologies SC's liability, if any, shall be limited to the extent permitted by applicable laws and regulations.
- Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
7.1 These Terms shall be interpreted and governed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
7.2 Any dispute relating to these Terms and Conditions will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Ethiopian courts.
By using the Arifpay Services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.
